About Karyn McCrimmon
Karyn is the co-founder and managing director of Horizon Fluency, a professional communication and Business English coaching company dedicated to helping international professionals communicate with greater confidence, clarity, and impact in English-speaking workplaces.
With more than 25 years of corporate experience and over a decade of Business English coaching, Karyn brings a unique combination of real-world business expertise, communication strategy, and psychological insight to her coaching approach.
Her background includes management roles at American Express and Citicorp where she worked in fast-paced international business environments and gained firsthand experience navigating professional communication, leadership challenges, and cross-cultural collaboration.
In addition to her corporate experience, Karyn holds a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology and has extensive experience helping professionals overcome communication barriers, self-doubt, hesitation, and lack of confidence in high-stakes workplace situations. Her coaching goes beyond grammar and vocabulary by focusing on the deeper psychological aspects of communication, leadership presence, and authentic self-expression.
Since 2015, Karyn has coached professionals from around the world, including executives, managers, engineers, entrepreneurs, healthcare professionals, and multinational teams. She has also worked as a TOEIC speaking rater and Pearson essay evaluator, giving her deep insight into language assessment, professional communication standards, and advanced fluency development.
